Obligatory pieces 2011 First Round (1st and 2nd day) Repertoire list 1a (1st day): Contains obligatory pieces from the piano repertoire of the late 18th century for the first round of the contest. The piece selected from the list must be disclosed in the application. Joseph Haydn C Minor Hob. XVI : 20 F Major Hob. XVI: 23 C sharp Minor Hob. XVI: 36 D Major Hob. XVI: 37 G Minor Hob. XVI: 44 C Major Hob. XVI: 50 E flat Major Hob. XVI: 52 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart D Major K. 309 A Minor K. 310 D Major K. 311 F Major K. 332 C Minor K. 457 B flat Major K. 570 D Major K. 576 Repertoire list 1b: Candidates may suggest pieces from the 20th and 21st century which they would like to perform. The respective musical scores must accompany the application documents. Prior to confirming the candidate's participation, the jury will decide upon the admissibility of the chosen piece. Sole condition: The piece must have been written after 1960. Repertoire list 1c (the Etudes by Frédéric Chopin): Etudes may be chosen by the participant. However, Etudes op. 10 No. 6 and op. 25 No. 7 may not be selected. Second Round (3rd day) Pieces for the 2nd examination round For the 2nd examination round, the candidate may choose two pieces, one of which must be a piece by Frédéric Chopin, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann or Sergei Rachmaninoff. The program chosen for the second examination round must be of a duration of at least 30 minutes but not longer than 45 minutes. Both pieces chosen for the 2nd examination round must be disclosed on the application. Prior to confirming the candidate's participation, the jury will decide upon the admissibility of the chosen piece. The 4th day of the Kurt Leimer piano contest is a day of rest. 3rd and last examination round (5th day) Repertoire list 2a: Ludwig van Beethoven A Major op. 2 No. 2 C Major op. 2 No. 3 E flat Major op. 7 D Major op. 10 No. 3 B flat Major op. 22 E flat Major op. 27 No. 1 G Major op. 31 No. 1 E flat Major op. 31 No. 3 Repertoire list 2b: Chamber music literature for piano. A well representative piece of chamber music of about 30 to 45 minutes duration is expected. The choice can be made among are trios, quartets and quintets by Johannes Brahms, Ernest Chausson, Antonin Dvorák, Gabriel Fauré, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Maurice Ravel, Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann. The chosen piece may not be by a composer who was chosen for the first round of the program. A series of songs may be suggested in place of a piece of chamber music. The proposal must be submitted to the jury along with the application. The jury has the right to decide upon the admissibility of the chosen piece on a case by case basis.
