Starting in 2025, the music publisher HUG Musikverlage will publish and distribute the sheet music (full score, piano reduction, and orchestral parts) for Kurt Leimer’s four piano concertos in printed, physical form as rental material.
The edition has been prepared by a team of musicologists based on the original manuscripts of the works as well as film and audio recordings featuring Kurt Leimer, under the project direction of Graziella Contratto.
(Note: The four piano concertos will be listed here once all materials are available online.)
200 Years of Swiss Music
Hug Musikverlage was founded in 1807 in Switzerland, when Pastor Jakob Christian Hug took over the sheet music business and publishing house of Hans Georg Nägeli. This makes Hug Musikverlage one of the oldest music publishers in the world. Throughout its long history, the company has continuously adapted to the musical needs of society. In its early decades, the publisher played a particularly important role in providing vocal scores for the educated middle class.
In the mid-19th century, numerous choral societies were founded across Switzerland, and Hug was responsible for publishing the widely used songbooks of the Swiss Federal Choir Association, established in 1842.
Educational publications have always been a major focus of the publisher. Many successful pedagogical works have been released, including the famous Swiss children’s songbook “Chömed Chinde”, which remains one of Hug’s bestsellers to this day.
The rental catalog of Hug Musikverlage features a wide range of works by prominent Swiss composers such as Arthur Honegger, Hermann Suter, Hans Huber, Heinz Marti, and Volkmar Andreae, including orchestral fairy tales by Howard Griffiths and Fabian Künzli.
